Sister M. Romaine O'Neill, IHM

Sister M. Romaine O'Neill, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, November 26, 1940 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

She was born on March 3, 1874 in Pleasant Mount, Pennsylvania, and given the name Margaret. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Margaret Fives O'Neill. She entered the IHM Congregation on April 3, 1899, received the religious habit on April 16, 1900, and made profession of her vows on April 1, 1902.

Sister Romaine enjoyed her years of teaching children in our IHM mission schools, including at St. Monica Elementary School in Raleigh, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James P. and Charles W., and four sisters, Ella, Elizabeth, Julia A. Connor and Mary E. Haggerty.

She is survived by two brothers, John T. of Forest City, PA , and Paul E. of New York, nieces and nephews.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
