Sister M. Rose Genevieve DeGloria, IHM

Sister M. Rose Genevieve DeGloria, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, November 8, 1974, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on October 9, 1904 in Albany, NY, and given the name Camilla.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Victoria Marie Scocco DeGloria.  She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1921, received the religious habit on December 27, 1921, and made profession of her vows on December 29, 1923.

Sister Rose Genevieve served as a teacher at the following schools: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Altoona, PA, in 1924, from 1944 to 1945, and 1950 to 1952; St. Paul Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1924 to 1926 and 1935 to 1937; St. Peter of Alcantara Elementary School in Port Washington, NY, from 1926 to 1927; St. Ann Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1927 to 1932; St. Patrick Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1932 to 1935; St. Mary of the Mount Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA, from 1937 to 1947; St. Paul Elementary School in Cranston, RI, from 1945 to 1949; Sacred Heart Consolidated School in La Plata, MD, from 1949 to 1950; St. Mary of the Assumption Elementary School in Marlboro, MD, from 1952 to 1953; St. Mary Elementary School in Manhasset, NY, from 1955 to 1956; St. Leo Elementary School in Ashley, PA, from 1956 to 1957; St. Bernardine Elementary School in Baltimore, MD, from 1957 to 1960; St. Dominic School in Oyster Bay, NY, from 1960 to 1965; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Bellefonte, PA, from 1965 to 1971; and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Asbury Park, NJ, in 1971.

From 1971 until the time of her death, Sister Rose Genevieve served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Vincent (age 3), Vincent James, and three sisters, Mary, Sarah and Annie.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
