Sister Marie Madeleine Millets, IHM

Sister Marie Madeleine (Milac) Millets, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, April 15, 1986.

She was born on April 10, 1905 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and given the name Helen M. Milac.  She was the daughter of the late Francis Milac and Mary Majger Milac-Millets.  She entered the IHM Congregation in September of 1924, received the religious habit on December 29, 1924, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1926.

Sister Marie Madeleine served as a teacher at the following local schools: St. John the Evangelist School in Pittston, PA, in the 1940s; St. Patrick School in Scranton, PA, from 1956 to 1963; and St. Leo School  in Ashley, PA, from 1972 to 1974.

From 1974 until the time of her death, Sister Marie Madeleine served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent in Scranton. 

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.

Note: According to our records she was baptized Milac and entered the community under that name, but at some point it was changed to Millets.
