Sister M. Harold Mulderig, IHM

Sister M. Harold Mulderig, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on July 2, 1903 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and was given the name Alice Sarah. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Sarah Mahon Mulderig.  She entered the IHM Congregation on September 7, 1928, made temporary profession of her vows on April 14, 1931, and final profession of her vows on August 2, 1934.

Sister Harold served as a principal and teacher at the following schools: St. Mary of Mount Carmel Elementary School in Dunmore, PA, from 1941 to 1948; St. Patrick Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1948 to 1949; St. Mary Elementary School in Pittston, PA, from 1955 to 1961; Holy Name of Jesus Elementary School in Forty Fort, PA, from 1961 to 1962; St. Clare Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1962 to 1968; St. Mary Elementary School in Avoca, PA, from 1968 to 1978; Holy Rosary Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1978 to 1988; St. Dominic Elementary School in Oyster Bay, NY; as well as at schools located in Pittsburgh, PA, and New Bern, NC.

From 1988 until the time of her death, Sister Harold served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Marywood College.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Schleis and Mary Crane, and a brother, Joseph.

She is survived by cousins, Thomas Ruddy of Scranton, PA, and Edward Ruddy and John Ruddy, both of Dunmore, PA.

The funeral will be Tuesday, February 27 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Monday between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
