Sister Helen Maria Reddon, IHM

Sister Helen Maria Reddon, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died Sunday, February 21, 1982, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on October 24, 1900 in Susquehanna, PA, and was the daugther of the late Thomas H. and Ellen Boland Reddon. She entered the IHM Congregation at Marywood on September 29, 1922, received the religious habit on December 28, 1922, and made profession of her vows on December 29, 1924.

Sister Helen Maria taught at the following schools: St. Patrick Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Ann Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Rose Elementary School in Carbondale, PA; St. Leo Elementary School in Ashley, PA; St. Rita Elementary School in Dundalk, MD; St. Ephrem Elementary School in Brooklyn, NY; St. John High School in Pittston, PA; St. Rosalia High School  in Pittsburgh, PA; and St. Mary High School in Manhasset, NY.

From 1979 until the time of her death, Sister Helen Maria served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Sister M. Francita Reddon, IHM, of Cathedral Convent in Scranton, PA; and Sister M. Clarice Reddon, IHM, of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Convent in Dunmore, PA.

The funeral will be Wednesday, February 24 with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the Marian Convent Chapel. Interment will be at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Tuesday afternoon or evening.
