Sister M. Loyola Jordan, IHM

Sister M. Loyola Jordan, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, March 11, 1986 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on March 7, 1907 in Scranton, PA, and given the name Dorothy Mary. She was the daughter of the late James and Annabel Walsh Jordan. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1929, received the religious habit on August 2, 1930, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1932.

Sister Loyola served as a music and general subjects teacher at the following schools: St. Ann High School in Scranton, PA, from 1932 to 1933 and 1944 to 1949; St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, NY, from 1933 to 1938; St. Patrick High School in Scranton, PA, from 1938 to 1940, 1943 to 1944, and 1955 to 1961; St. Basil High School in Dushore, PA, from 1940 to 1943; St. Patrick High School in Olyphant, PA, from 1949 to 1950; St. Leo High School in Ashley, PA, from 1950 to 1954; St. Paul High School in Scranton, PA, from 1954 to 1955; Sacred Heart of Mary High School in Jermyn, PA, from 1954 to 1955; Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, PA, from 1961 to 1962; St. Mary High School in Manhasset, NY, from 1962 to 1968; Immaculata High School in New York City, NY, from 1968 to 1971; and Bishop Klonowski High School in Scranton, PA, from 1971 to 1975.  She also served as a tutor at Epiphany School in Sayre, PA, from 1975 to 1976.

From 1976 until the time of her death, Sister Loyola served as an support staff member at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by an aunt, Sister M. Sacred Heart Walsh, IHM.

She is survived by cousins.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
