Sister M. Celestina Langan, IHM

Sister M. Celestina Langan, IHM, of the Congregation of Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Thursday, May 31, 1990 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on March 11, 1894 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Michael L. and Sarah Timlin Langan. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1923, was received into the novitiate on August 15, 1923, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1925.

Sister Celestina served as a teacher at the following schools: St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Scranton, PA; Cathedral Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Patrick Elementary School in Spangler, PA; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Bellefonte, PA; and St. Ann Elementary School in Devon, CT.

Sister also served as a catechetical instructor at: Holy Name of Mary Catechetical Center in Montrose, PA; St. Peter Catechetical Center in Wellsboro, PA; St. Ignatius Catechetical Center in Kingston, PA; and St. Ann Catechetical Center in Tobyhanna, PA.

She is preceded in death by a brother, James, and a sister, Sadie.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Veronica Langan, and a nephew, Joseph Langan, both of Dallas, Texas.

The funeral will be Monday, June 4 with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Marian Convent chapel. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Sunday afternoon or evening.
