Sister M. Antonina Williamson, IHM

Sister M. Antonina Williamson, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Wednesday, July 2, 1980 at the Marian Convent at Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on December 18, 1890 in Bellwood, Pennsylvani; and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rose Devine Williamson.  She entered the IHM Congregation on January 6, 1913, received the religious habit on August 2, 1913, and made profession of her vows on July 6, 1915.

As a teacher of intermediate grades, Sister Antonina was assigned to schools located in New York, Portland, OR, and Pittsburgh. Moving to the high school level, she served as a teacher of languages, math and science at St. Paul High School in Scranton, PA and St. Patrick High School in Scranton, PA; St. John High School in Susquehanna, PA; St. John High School in Pittston, PA; as well as several other high schools staffed by IHM sisters.

In 1970, Sister Antonina came to the Marian Convent where she served as librarian for a time.

She is preceded in death by five brothers, Elmer E., James M., Howard Russell, Robert Cochran, and Samuel Harley; and a sister, Abigail Anna Cole.

She is survived by two sisters, Miss Rose Williamson of Johnstown, PA; and Mrs. Alice Sievers of Homer City, PA; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday, July 5 with Mass of Christian Burial in the Marian Convent Chapel at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Friday afternoon and evening.
