Sister M. Leah Seng, IHM

Sister M. Leah Seng, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died Saturday, October 13, 1984, at the Mercy Hospital in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

Daughter of the late John and Catherine Sullivan Seng, she was born on October 25, 1909 in Wireton, Pennsylvania. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1932, received the religious habit on August 2, 1932, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1934.

Sister Leah served as a teacher at the following schools: Holy Rosary Elementary School in Scranton,PA; St. Cecilia Elementary School in Exeter, PA; St. John Elementary School in Susquehanna, PA; All Saints Elementary School in Mastontown, PA; St. Bernard Elementary School in Hastings, PA; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Asbury Park, NJ; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Altoona, PA; as well as at elementary schools located in Pittsburgh, PA and Baltimore, MD.

In additon to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Elizabeth Mary Voltz Seng; brother, Emil William; and two sisters, Elizabeth McCollin and Margaret Suttule.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Sells of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday, October 16 with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the Marian Convent chapel. Interment will be at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Monday afternoon or evening.
