Monsignor John W. Jordan, a West Pittston native and lifelong advocate for Catholic education, was ordained in 1969 and went on to earn advanced degrees in education and administration. He served as principal of three diocesan high schools and later as Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Scranton, earning national recognition for his innovative leadership. His work included directing a national Catholic education initiative and leading the NativityMiguel Foundation to support inner-city schools.
