Sister Rachel's Commitment to God and to the IHM Community

God uses everything on this earth to communicate with us, all of Creation, the spoken and written word, the Scriptures and tradition of the Church and more often than not, one another.  God uses people all the time to teach us about Himself and how we can relate to Him.  I have been blessed to come to know God and myself in relationship to God through many wonderful people, most of whom are here in this church right now.  God gave me a loving, playful, happy family to firmly establish my roots and form my personality.  God gave me loyal and trustworthy friends who allowed me to explore and expand my role and desires for my life while keeping me grounded and laughing.

Knowing myself more and more with the help of my family and friends I was able to find my true call, to be an IHM Sister.  I believe I was born with the heart of an IHM and my life was spent seeking the home where my heart could dwell.  I found that home in community among my own dear Sisters whose lives are spent in service to a God who is joyful, loving, gracious and generous.

It is through my experiences of living and working and praying with you, my Sisters, that I have been nudged and opened, tested and challenged, and held closely and lovingly enough to affirm that yes I do have the heart of an IHM.  This day I desire to give that same heart to you and to God forever, conforming to the gospel and to the Constitutions of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in a spirit of prayer and at the service of the people of God.
