Sister M. Maurine LeFevre, IHM
Sister M. Maurine LeFevre, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, July 9, 1962.
She was born on May 31, 1889 in Potsdam, New York, and given the name Susan. She was the daughter of the late George H. and Catherine Jordan LeFevre. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 12, 1922, received the religious habit on December 28, 1922, and made profession of her vows on December 29, 1924.
Sister Maurine served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Rosalia School in Pittsburgh, PA, from 1925 to 1926; St. Leo School in Ashley, PA, from 1926 to 1929 and 1930 to 1931; St. Mary School in Goldsboro, NC, from 1929 to 1930; St. Joseph School in Williamsport, PA, from 1931 to 1933 and 1941 to 1947; Altoona Catholic High School in Altoona, PA, from 1933 to 1941; All Saints School in Masontown, PA, from 1947 to 1950; St. Joseph School in Renovo, PA, from 1950 to 1953; and St. John the Evangelist Schol in Pittston, PA, from 1953 to 1956.
Sister also served as superior and instructor at Holy Name of Jesus Catechetical Center in Montrose, PA, from 1956 to 1962.
She is survived by a sister, Mary.
Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.

Archival Remembrance:
The death of our dear Sister M. Maurine came as a shock. She had been hospitalized for a few days, as it was hoped; but God's call soon came to this quiet, gentle Sister. At the retreat she made in June, she appeared to be well, and her ready smile gave evidence of the joy which was hers in spending these days with God. As Superior of the Catechetical Center in Montrose, she had cared for the religious instruction of hundreds of children, both elementary pupils and high school students. The work was taxing, her tired heart often pleaded for surcease; but she valiantly carried on her apostolate of bringing God's children in public schools to a greater knowledge of His truth and His way of life. Sister Maurine was a very experienced educator before she entered our Congregation; she had traveled and taught in many parts of this country. Her varied experience made her a competent teacher, and she literally spent herself in God's service. May God grant to her gentle, zealous soul the eternal rest which He has promised to those who served Him faithfully.
