Sister M. Joycelin Ennis, IHM

Sister M. Joycelin Ennis, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Tuesday, August 28, 1978 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an extended illness.

She was born on April 24, 1914 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Tighe Ennis. She entered the IHM Congregation from St. Patrick's Parish on September 8, 1932, received the religious habit on April 24, 1933, and made profession of her first vows on April 30, 1935.

Sister Joycelin served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Mary Elementary School in Avoca, PA; St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School in Archbald, PA; St. Paul Elementary School in Cranston, RI; as well as schools located in Carbondale, PA, Long Island, NY, and Maryland.

Sister also served as a catechetical teacher at Holy Name of Mary Catechetical Center in Montrose, PA.

From 1962 until the time of her death, Sister Joycelin served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She is survived by cousins, including Mrs. Bernard Scanlon of Scranton, PA.

The funeral will be Thursday, August 30, at the Marian Convent with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Wednesday afternoon or evening.
