Sister M. Olivia Reilly, IHM

Sister M. Olivia Reilly, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on March 2, 1970 at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Daughter of the late John C. and Catherine Hannon Reilly, she was born in Honesdale, Pennsylvania on July 11, 1889; and given the name Isabel.  She entered the IHM Congregation on March 24, 1925, received the religious habit on August 15, 1925, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1927.

Sister Olivia was an accomplished musician. She served as a music teacher in the following schools: St. Joseph in Renovo, from 1927 to 1928; St. John in Bellefonte, from 1928 to 1929; St. Joseph in Danville, from 1929 to 1934; St. Paul in Scranton, from 1934 to 1936; St. Cecilia in Pittston, from 1936 to 1940; Immaculate Conception in Pittston, from 1940 to 1941; St. Ann in Scranton, from 1941 to 1945; St. Leo in Ashley, from 1945 to 1950; Sacred Heart in Jermyn, from 1950 to 1953; St. John in Scranton, from 1953 to 1955; St. Ephrem in Brooklyn, from 1955 to 1961; and St. Rose in Carbondale, from 1962 to 1968.

From 1968 until the time of her death, she served in prayer ministry at the Marian Convent in Scranton.

She is preceded in death by four sisters, Olive Burkett, Marcella Reilley, Mary Dardis and Anna; two brothers, William and Matthew.

She is survived by a niece and two nephews.

Interment will follow the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
