Sister Alphonsus Marie Downey, IHM

Sister Alphonsus Marie Downey, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, February 15, 1948.

She was born on November 1, 1890 in Scranton, PA, and given the name Hortense. She was the daughter of the late James and Sarah Scanlon Downey.  She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1919, received the religious habit on December 27, 1919, and made profession of her vows on December 29, 1921.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
