Sister M. St. Jerome Holland, IHM

Sister M. St. Jerome Holland, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Friday, February 20, 1981 at the Mercy Hospital in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on July 2, 1908 in New York City, New York.  She was the daughter of the late Timothy and Ellen Hayes Holland.  She entered the Congregation September 8, 1930, received the religious habit April 14, 1931, and made profession of vows April 24, 1933.

Sister Jerome served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Ann Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Dominic Elementary School in Oyster Bay, NY; St. Ephrem Elementary School in Brooklyn, NY; St. Mary Elementary School in Manhasset, NY; St. Alphonsus Elementary School in New York City; Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary School in Inwood, RI; and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Elementary School in Forest Hills, NY.

From 1971 until the time of her death, Sister Jerome has served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Connelly of South Euclid, Ohio, a brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Monday, February 23 with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent Chapel at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Sunday afternoon and evening.
