Sister M. Marquita Sealey, IHM

Sister M. Marquita Sealey, IHM, of the Congregation of Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Sunday, March 3, 1990 at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, NY, after an illness.

She was born on May 8, 1914 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and was daughter of the late William G. and Marcella Cooney Sealey. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1934, received the religious habit on August 2, 1934, and made profession of her vows on August 3, 1936.

Sister Marquita served as a commercial teacher at the following schools: St. Joseph High School in Renovo, PA; St. Cecilia School in Exeter, PA; Cathedral High School in Scranton, PA; St. Thomas Commercial School in Archbald, PA; Epiphany School in Sayre, PA; St. Paul School in Cranston, RI; St. Ambrose School in Bridgeport, CT; and St. Mary School in Manhasset, NY.

From 1981 until the time of her death, she served as the librarian at St. Raymond School in East Rockaway, New York. 

She is preceded in death by a brother, Joseph.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. William Hall and Elizabeth, both of Scranton, PA; and Mrs. Agnes O'Neill of Kearney, New Jersey; a brother, John of Scranton, PA; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Thursday, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in the Marian Convent chapel. Interment will be at Saint Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. There will also be a Mass at St. Raymond's Church in East Rockaway, New York, on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and a viewing at St. Raymond's Convent on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
