Sister M. Thomasita Nash, IHM

Sister M. Thomasita Nash, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Thursday, June 24, 1993 at Marian Community Hospital in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on September 2, 1907 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and given the name Elizabeth. She was daughter of the late Patrick and Alice Prout Nash. She entered the IHM Congre­gation on March 24, 1925, received the religious habit on August 15, 1925, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1927.

Sister Thomasita served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Basil Elementary School in Dushore, PA; Sacred Heart of Mary Elementary School in Jermyn, PA; St. Joseph Elementary School in Renovo, PA; as well as elementary schools located in Lock Haven and Pittsburgh, PA, and Brooklyn, NY.

Sister also served as a receptionist at the IHM Center in Scranton, PA.

From 1990 until the time of her death, Sister Thomasita served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Francis (infant), and two sisters Alice and Helen (infant).

She is survived by nieces and nephews. 

The funeral will be Monday, June 28 with Mass of Christian Burial at 7:30 p.m. in the Marian Convent chapel with interment to follow at Saint Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania.
