Sister M. Henriette Kramer, IHM

Sister M. Henriette Kramer, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, January 24, 2000 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania. 

She was born on June 9, 1911 in Baltimore, Maryland, and given the name Vera C. She was the daughter of the Henry M. and Frances Stigler Kramer.  She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1941, made temporary profession of her vows on May 8, 1944, and final profession of her vows on August 2, 1947.

Sister Henriette served as a music teacher at the following schools: Marywood College in Scranton, PA, from 1944 to 1945; Cathedral Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1955 to 1959; Our Lady of Peace Elementary School in Clark's Green, PA, from 1963 to 1967 and 1977 to 1981; St. Matthew Elementary School in East Stroudsburg, PA, from 1975 to 1977; Monsignor McHugh Elemenary School in Cresco, PA, from 1981 to 1988; and Holy Trinity Elementary School in Poughkeepsie, NY; as well as in schools located in Brooklyn, Forest Hills, and Manhasset, NY.

From 1988 until the time of her death, Sister Henriette served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Marywood College, and a Master of Arts degree in music from New York University.

She is survived by cousins, Teresa Slade of Ellicott City, MD, August Stigler, Herbert Stigler and Catherine Ackerman all of Buckeystown, MD, and Joseph Lawrence of Bowie, MD.

The funeral will be Friday, January 28 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherin's Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Thursday between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
