Sister Marianna Ginalski, IHM

Sister Marianna Ginalski, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died Thursday, March 5, 1981, at the Mercy Hospital in Scranton, PA, after a brief illness.

She was born on June 15, 1937 in Sayre, PA, and was given the name Betty. She was the daughter of Casimir and Helen Herrick Ginalski. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1954, received the religious habit on August 2, 1955, and made profession of her vows on August 3, 1957.

As a teacher of intermediate and junior high grades, Sister Marianna served on the faculty of IHM schools located in Scranton and Pittston, PA; Coeur d'Alene, ID; Brooklyn, NY; and Cranston, RI. 

In 1975, Sister Marianna was assigned to Marywood College in Scranton, PA, as a catalogue librarian, and also served as Directress of Immaculata Hall, a student residence.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree in library science (M.S.L.S.), both from Marywood College. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Library Association, Catholic Library Association, and American Library Association. 

In addition to her parents, Casimir and Hellen Ginalski of Sayre, PA, she is also survived by a sister, Jean, of Waverly, NY, two brothers, Ronald and Thomas, both of Elmira, NY, three nieces, three nephews, and several aunts and uncles.

The funeral will be Monday at the IHM Generalate, Marywood, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the IHM Generalate on Sunday afternoon and evening.
