Sister M. Rene Boyle, IHM

Sister M. Rene Boyle, IHM, of the Congregation of Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Wednesday, April 11, 1990, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on April 26, 1906 in Ashley, PA, and was daughter of the late Charles and Mary Jane Hoy Boyle. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 1, 1932, received the religious habit on August 2, 1932, and made pro­fession of her vows on August 2, 1934.

Sister Rene taught primary grades and music at the following schools located in Pennsylvania: St. John Elementary School in Pittston; St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School in Archbald; and St. Joseph Elementary School in Williamsport. She also served as teacher at IHM schools located in New York and Delaware.

In 1971, Sister Rene joined the staff of the Marian Convent as a nurse's assistant, and later retired there.

Five brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sisters, Monica Boyle from Ashley, PA, and Mrs. Clare Vohl from Chicago, Illinois, and a grandniece.

There will be a Liturgy of the Word on Saturday, April 14 at 9:30 a.m. at the Marian Convent Chapel, followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania.  A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, April 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the Marian Convent,  Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m.
