Sister Mary Paul O'Reilly, IHM

Sister Mary Paul O'Reilly, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died Friday, July 4, 1980 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on January 11, 1910 in Providence, Rhode Island, and given the name Edna Mary. She was the daughter of the late James and Mary LaClaire O'Reilly. She entered the IHM Congregation on June 22, 1927, received the religious habit on December 28, 1927, and made profession of her vows on December 27, 1929.

Sister Mary Paul served as a teacher of music and general subjects at the following schools: St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Pittston, PA; St. Joseph Elementary School in Williamsport, PA; St. Matthew Elementary School in East Stroudsburg, PA; St. Cecilia Elementary School in Exeter, PA; St. Leo Elementary School in Ashley, PA; and at schools located Maryland, New York and Rhode Island.

From 1979 until the time of her death, Sister Mary Paul served as librarian at the Marian Convent.

She is survived by two sisters, Mabel of Providence, RI, and Evelyn Morry of Ogunquit, Maine, three brothers, James, Roland and George, all of Providence RI, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday, July 8 with Mass of Christian Burial in the Marian Convent Chapel at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Monday afternoon and evening.
