Sister M. Clarice Reddon, IHM

Sister M. Clarice Reddon, IHM, of the Congregation of Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Saturday, March 10, 1990, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on June 22, 1926 in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania; and was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Clara Montgomery Reddon. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1948, was received into the novitiate on May 9, 1949, and made profession of her vows on May 8, 1951.

Sister Clarice served as a science and math teacher at the following schools: Bishop O'Hara High School in Dunmore, PA; St. John High School in Pittston, PA; St. Rosalia High School in Pittsburgh, PA; St. Mary of the Mount High School in Pittsburgh, PA; as well as high schools located in New York.  She served as principal at St. Mary of the Mount High School in Pittsburgh, PA.

Sister also served as the parish social minister at St. Bonaventure Parish in Pittsburgh, PA.

From 1989 until the time of her death, Sister Clarice served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Science from Marywood College, and a Master of Science degree in chemistry/biology from the University of Notre Dame.

She is preceded in death by an aunt, Sister Helen Maria Reddon, IHM.

She is survived by two sisters, Sister Francita Reddon, IHM of Dunmore, Pennsylvania; and Mrs. Elizabeth O'Malley of Montrose, Pennsylvania; a brother, Robert F. of Susquehanna, Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews. 

The funeral will be Tuesday, March 13 with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in the Marian Convent chapel. Interment will be at Saint Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Monday after 2:00 p.m.
