Sister M. Alison Reilly, IHM

Sister M. Alison Reilly, IHM, of the Congregation of Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, July 12, 1991 at Mercy Hospital in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after a sudden illness.

Born on March 2, 1910, in Pittston, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Alice Carden Reilly. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1934, received the religious habit on April 30, 1935, and made profession of her vows on May 3, 1937

Sister Alison served as a teacher at the following schools: South Scranton Catholic in Scranton, PA; Holy Rosary in Scranton, PA; and St. Mary in Manhasset, NY. She served as librarian at the following schools: Bishop Guilfoyle High School in Altoona, PA; St. Matthew in East Stroudsburg, PA; and Notre Dame in East Stroudsburg, PA.  Her most recent assignment was at Bishop Hannon High School in Scranton, PA.

Sister served as principal at Holy Rosary School in Scranton, PA.

She earned a Master of Science degree in education, a Bachelor of Science degree in library science, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, all from Marywood College.

She is preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Thomas and Leo.

She is survived by a sister, Mary of Pittston, and a nephew, Henry Reilly.

The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Marian Convent Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania.
