Sister M. Anacletus Farrell, IHM

Sister M. Anacletus Farrell, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Wednesday, August 6, 1975 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on September 6, 1902 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and given the name Catherine.  She was the daughter of the late William and Mary McKnight Farrell.  She entered the IHM Congregation on August 15, 1921, received the religious habit on December 26, 1921, and made profession of her vows on December 28, 1923.

Sister Anacletus served as a teacher in the following schools: St. Basil Elementary School in Dushore, PA, from 1923 to 1925; St. Patrick Elementary School in Spangler, PA, from 1925 to 1930; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1930 to 1933; Sacred Heart of Mary Elementary School in Jermyn, PA, from 1933 to 1934; St. Paul Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1934 to 1945; St. Mary of the Mount Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA, from 1945 to 1962; St. Joseph Elementary School in Renovo, PA, from 1962 to 1965; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Asbury Park, NJ, from 1965 to 1966; and Holy Angels Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA, from 1966 to 1969.   

From 1969 until the time of her death, Sister Anacletus served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She is preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Charles, William and John, and a sister, Dolores Clarke.

She is survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
