"September 8, 1863

Sister Mary Lucy Hickey

Motherhouse Records, Vol. I, p.79

The feast of St. Teresa, 1837 marked the birthday of Annie Hickey, who entered our novitiate at St. Joseph, Susquehanna County before her twenty-third year, September 8, 1860.  She received the habit as Sister Mary Lucy on the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lady, 1861 and made her holy vows August 25, 1862.

Sister was first missioned to St. Alphonsus Academy, Susquehanna, but her health failing she returned to St. Joseph's, where she died peacefully on the third anniversary of her entrance, September 8, 1862, leaving to her Sisters in religion a remarkable example of humility, through the resignation with which she bore her sufferings in youth as God's Holy Will, when her most earnest desire was to give, rather than receive the service of her Sisters.  Aged 25 years.

Interred: St. Joseph Cemetery
              Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania"
