Sister M. Clarence McHale, IHM

Sister M. Clarence McHale of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Friday, June 17, 1983, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an extended illness.

She was born on April 11, 1898 in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, and and given the name Marguerite. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret Langan McHale. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1918, received the religious habit August 5, 1918, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1920.

Sister Clarence served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Mary-John School in Cresson, PA; All Saints Elementary School in Masontown, PA; St. Mary Help of Christians Elementary School in Pittston, PA; as well as schools located in Pittsburgh and Williamsport, PA.

From 1970 until the time the time of her death, Sister Clarence served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She is preceded in death by four brothers, Martin, Harry Patrick, John and William Thomas, and five sisters, Anna Gildea, Mary Veronica McDonnell, Agnes, Frances, and Gertrude Catherine.

She is survived by a sister, Ruth Turner of Chicago, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews, including Reverend Raymond McHale of St. Louis, Missouri.

The funeral will be Monday, June 20 with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Marian Convent Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Sunday afternoon or evening.
