Sister M. Benedicta O'Brien, IHM

Sister M. Benedicta O'Brien, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, April 12, 1946.

She was born on March 13, 1878 in Pittston, Pennsylvania, and given the name Agnes. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Noone O'Brien. She entered the IHM Congregation on March 25, 1902, received the religious habit on July 31, 1902, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1904.

Sister Benedicta enjoyed her years of teaching children in our IHM mission schools, including at St. Joseph School in Williamsport, PA. She also served as a teacher at Marywood College in Scranton, PA.

She was preceded in death by four brothers,Thomas, Patrick Joseph, Michael and Luke and two  sisters, Bridget and Mary Magdalen Moylan.

She is survived by a brother, James, a sister, Margaret G., nieces and nephews, including Sister Maria Joannes Moylan, IHM of Philadelphia, PA.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
