Sister M. Cecilia Loftus, IHM

Sister M. Cecilia Loftus, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Saturday, January 20, 1923 at St. Rose's Convent in Carbondale, Pennsylvania.

She was born on December 4, 1897 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, and given the name Cecilia. She was the daughter of the late Owen and Alice Moylan Loftus. She entered the IHM Congregation on January 6, 1917, received the religious habit on August 2, 1917, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1919.

She served as a teacher at St. Rose School in Carbondale, PA.

She is survived by a three sisters, Marie and Helen, both of Carbondale, PA, and Alice E. Backer of Delaware, a brother, Eugene J. of Carbondale, PA, and a nephew.

Interment is at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Carbondale, Pennsylvania.
