Sister M. Aidan Jordan, IHM

Sister M. Aidan Jordan, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, July 6, 1969 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on May 16, 1886 in Scranton, and given the name Rebecca. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Catherine Horan Jordan. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 15, 1916, received the religious habit on August 2, 1917, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1919.

Sister Aidan served as a teacher in the following schools: St. Joseph Elementary School in Aliquippa, PA, from 1919 to 1921; St. Rose Elementary School in Carbondale, PA, from 1921 to 1922; St. Paul Elementary School in Edgewood, RI, from 1922 to 1943; Nativity of Our Lord Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1943 to 1947; St. Matthew Elementary School in Wilmington, DE, from 1947 to 1948; St. Patrick Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1948 to 1956; and Holy Rosary Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1956 to 1962.  

At the time of her death, Sister Aidan was a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Dennis, and four sisters, Ella Jordan Dolan, Mary, Catherine and Annie.

She is survived by a brother, Thomas W., nieces and nephews.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
