Sister M. Irma McNally, IHM

Sister M. Irma McNally, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, March 25, 1971 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on April 4, 1883 in White Haven, Pennsylvania, and given the name Catherine. She was the daughter of the late John and Anne Michel McNally. She entered the IHM Congregation on March 2, 1904, received the religious habit on August 2, 1904, and made profession of her vows on July 26, 1906.

Sister Irma was an accomplished musician. She served as a music teacher in the following schools: Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, PA, from 1906 to 1908; St. Andrew Parish School in Portland, OR, from 1908 to 1914; St. Cecilia Academy in Scranton,PA, from 1914 to 1915; St. Leo School in Ashley, PA, from 1915 to 1918; All Saints School in Masontown, PA, from 1918 to 1919; St. Rose School in Carbondale, PA, from 1919 to 1923; St. Ann School in Scranton, PA, from 1923 to 1932; St. John School in Susquehanna, PA, from 1932 to 1936; St. Patrick School in Scranton, PA, from 1932 to 1936; Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse, NY, 1937 to 1942; St. Patrick School in Oneida, NY, from 1942 to 1948; St. Patrick School in White Haven, PA, from 1948 to 1954; and at St. Mary Schoolin Hollidaysburg, PA, from 1954 to 1958. 

Sister also served as the local superior at the following: St. John's Convent in Susquehanna, PA, St. Patrick's Convent in White Have, PA, and St. Mary's Convent in Hollidaysburg, PA. 

From 1959 until the time of her death, Sister Irma served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Edward and Harry, and a sister, Elizabeth.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
