Sister M. Hermine Krug, IHM

Sister M. Hermine Krug, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, February 11, 1999 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on August 3, 1916 in Ashville, Pennsylvania, and given the name Rose Guila. She was the daughter of the late Herman E. and Matilda Douglass Krug. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1942, made temporary profession of her vows on August 2, 1944, and final profession of her vows on August 2, 1947.

Sister Hermine served as a teacher at the following schools:  Immaculate Conception Elementary School in West Pittston, PA; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Bellefonte, PA; St. Bernard Elementary School in Hastings. PA; St. Thomas Elementary School in Bedford, PA; St. Thomas Elementary School in Providence, RI; Most Holy Rosary Elementary School in Syracuse, NY; St. Ann Elementary School in Devon, CT; and at elementary schools located in Coeur d'Alene, ID.

Sister also served as a dietitian at the IHM Center in Scranton, PA,  from 1981 to 1994. 

From 1994 until the time of her death, Sister Hermine served on the support staff at the Marian Convent.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Marywood College.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Marian Krug, Jane Krug and Mary Bender, and two brothers, Douglas and Leo.

She is survived by six sisters, Sister M. Romaine Krug, IHM of Scranton, PA, Sister M. Franceline Krug, IHM of Juniata-Altoona, PA, Helen Krug of Loretto, PA, Theresa Cole of Indiana, PA, and Dorothy Conlon of Roaring Springs, PA, and four brothers, Robert and Francis both of Ashville, PA, Herman of Levittown, PA, and Edgar of Pittsburgh, PA, nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

The funeral will be Wednesday, February 17 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Tuesday between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
