Archival Remembrance:

A little more than a year ago, our beloved Sister M. St. Hugh came to Marywood as local Superior of the Sisters at the motherhouse.  She came as a ray of sunshine dispersing the radiance of her gentle character to all around her.  Her ever-ready smile, her radiant kindness, and her deep spirituality made a lasting impression on all.  Twenty-five years of untiring, zealous labor had been spent among our missions for African American children in North Carolina.  Hers was a true apostolate of beneficent charity.   She had generously given her all to God's work and had labored heroically for the spread of the Church.  But God had already counted her days of service; the shadow of death marked her steps, and grew larger day by day.  Her heroic example in suffering, her selflessness, her gentle acceptance of God's holy will, all these are the heritage she left to her bereaved Sisters.  Always, she will be remembered for her gentle way in which she led her Sisters closer to God.  May her soul rest in peace.
