Sister M. Raymonda Farry, IHM

Sister M. Raymonda Farry, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, September 6, 1976 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on February 7, 1917 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and given the name Rita Marie. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Monahan Farry.  She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1935, received the religious habit on April 30, 1936, and made profession of her vows on May 2, 1938.

Sister Raymonda served as a teacher in the following schools: St. Dominic Elementary School in Oyster Bay, NY, from 1938 to 1944 and 1966 to 1969; Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Elementary School in Forest Hills, NY, from 1944 to 1950; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Silver Spring, MD, from 1950 to 1952; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Pittston, PA, from 1952 to 1957; St. Clare Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1957 to 1963; Nativity of Our Lord Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1963 to 1966; St. Patrick Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1969 to 1973; and St. Ephrem Elementary School in Brooklyn, NY, from 1973 to 1974.

Sister also served on the support staff at the IHM Center in Scranton, PA, from 1974 to 1975.  

From 1975 until the time of her death, Sister Raymonda served as prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Marie.

She is survived by three brothers, Raymond, Eugene and Reverend James F.

She received a Bachelor Science degree in elementary/intermediate education, and Master of Science degree in elementary/intermediate education, both from Marywood College.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA.
