Sister M. Gabrielle Driscoll, IHM

Sister M. Gabrielle Driscoll, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Thursday, October 25, 1984 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on June 13, 1907 in Boston, Massachusetts, and was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Ann McNamara Driscoll. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1933, received the religious habit on April 24, 1934, and made profession of her vows April 30, 1936.

Sister Gabrielle taught at the intermediate and junior high level the following schools: St. Matthew Elementary School in East Stroudsburg, PA; Little Flower Elementary School in Bethesda, MD; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Clinton, MD; St. Lawrence Elementary School in Portland, Oregon; Mt. Holly Regional Catholic Grammar School in Mt. Holly in New Jersey; as well as schools located in Pittsburgh, PA. She served as principal in two of these schools, and was the local superior of the community staffing another school.

From 1983 until the time of her death, Sister Gabrielle served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She is survived by a sister, Catherine Kerrigan of Harwood Heights, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the Marian Convent Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Friday afternoon or evening.
