Sister M. Honorine Walsh, IHM

Sister M. Honorine Walsh, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Sunday night, June 28, 1987, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on January 21, 1908 in West Pittston, Pennsylvania; and daughter of the late Anthony and Sarah Lark Walsh. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1936, received the religious habit on May 3, 1937, and made profession of her vows on May 8, 1939.

Sister Honorine served as a teacher at the following elementary schools: St. Thomas in Archbald; St. Paul in Cranston, RI; St. Ann in Devon, CT; Most Holy Rosary in Syracuse, NY; and at schools located in Washington, NC. She also served as a teacher and care giver at both St. John's Home for Boys in Cresson; and at St. Michael's in Hoban Heights, Pennsylvania

Sister served as superior of the boys' residence at Catholic Child Care Center in Hollidaysburg. 

From 1981 until the time of her death, she served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Maryrita Goodoff of Flanders, New Jersey; two nieces and a nephew. A sister, and two brothers preceded her in death.

The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial in the Marian Convent Chapel at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Tuesday afternoon or evening.
