Sister M. Marcelia Brennan, IHM

Sister M. Marcelia Brennan, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Wednesday, July 26, 1989, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on January 23, 1912 in Syracuse, NY, and was the daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine Perkins Brennan. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1931, received the religious habit on April 21, 1932, and made profession of her vows on April 24, 1934.

A teacher at the intermediate and junior high level, Sister Marcelia served on the faculty at the following schools: Our Lady of Peace School in Clarks Green, PA; Epiphany School in Sayre, PA; and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School in Asbury Park, NJ. She also served at IHM schools located in Maryland and New Jersey.  Most recently, she was teaching at Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse, NY.

Nine brothers, and a sister preceded her in death.

She is surived by two sisters, Dorothy Foran and Marie Honsell, both of Syracuse, NY, nieces and nephews. 

The funeral will be Monday, July 31 with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Marian Convent Chapel, followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania.  Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Sunday afternoon or evening.
