Sister M. Visitation Lally, IHM

Sister M. Visitation Lally, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Tuesday, August 5, 1986 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on February 1, 1900 in Olyphant, PA, and was given the name deSalles.  She was the daughter of the late John J. and Kathryn Munley Lally.  She entered the IHM Congregation on August 15, 1917, received the religious habit on January 4, 1918, and made profession of her vows on December 27, 1919.

Sister Visitation served as a music and junior high teacher at the following schools: St. Basil Academy in Dushore, PA; St. Rose Elementary School in Carbondale, PA; Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Paul Elementary School in Scranton, PA; Cathedral Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Joseph Elementary School in Danville, PA; St. Agnes Elementary School in Lock Haven, PA; St. Dominic Elementary School in Oyster Bay, NY; Most Holy Rosary Elementary School in Syracuse, NY; St. Joseph Elementary School in Renovo, PA; St. Patrick Elementary School in Oneida, NY; St. Matthew Elementary School in Wilmington, DE; as well as at elementaryschools located in Pittsburgh, PA, and Manhasset, NY.

From 1978 until the time of her death, Sister Visitation served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Bartholomew, and a sister, Sister M. Dolores Joseph, IHM.

She is survived by cousins.

The funeral will be Friday, August 8 with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the Marian Convent chapel. Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Thursday afternoon or evening.
