Sister M. Evarista Campbell, IHM

Sister M. Evarista Campbell, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, April 16, 1974, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on February 26, 1888, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and given the name Catherine.  She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Connell Campbell.  She entered the IHM Congregation on March 24, 1910, received the religious habit on October 15, 1910, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1912.

Sister Evarista served as teacher at the following schools: IHM Academy in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; St. Cecilia Academy in Scranton, PA; St. Leo Elementary School in Ashley, PA; St. Rose Elementary School in Carbondale, PA; Holy Rosary Elementary School in Scranton, PA; Sacred Heart of Mary Elementary School in Jermyn, PA; and St. Mary Elementary School in Hollidaysburg, PA.  

From 1961 until the time of her death, Sister Evarista served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Joseph, and a sister, Florence.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
