Sister M. Annchen Caulson, IHM

Sister M. Annchen Caulson, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, August 31, 2001 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pensnylania. 

She was born on March 1, 1914 in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, and given the name Margaret.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Ann Burke Caulson.  She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1940, made her temporary profession of vows on August 3, 1942, and her final profession of vows on August 2, 1945.

Sister Annchen served as a teacher at the following schools: St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Pittston, PA, from 1944 to 1950; St. Ann Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1950 to 1951; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1965 to 1966; All Saints Elementary School in Masontown, PA; Most Holy Rosary Elementary School in Syracuse, NY; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Silver Spring, MD; St. Mary of the Assumption Elementary School in Upper Marlboro; St. Matthew Elementary School in Wilmington, DE; and at elementary schools located in Baltimore, MD.

Sister Annchen also served as a prayer minister at Holy Rosary Convent in Scranton, PA, 1992 to 1996, and on the support staff at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA, from 1996 to 1997.

From 1997 until the time of her death, she served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She received Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Marywood College.

She is preceded in death by four brothers, John, Thomas, Frank and Brother Ronan, CP, and two sisters, Catherine and Mary McHale.

She is survived by a sister, Sister Laetitia, IHM of Scranton, PA, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, including Sister Margaret Mary, IHM, of Staten Island, NY, and Sister Beatrice, IHM, of Gainesville, FL.

The funeral will be Wednesday, September 5 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Tuesday between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
