Sister M. Marinus Krumenacker, IHM
Sister M. Marinus Krumenacker, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Wednesday, February 28, 1996 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
She was born on December 14, 1904 in Nicktown, Pennsylvania, and given the name Gertrude. She was the daughter of the late William and Mary Dumm Krumenacker. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 7, 1924, made temporary profession of her vows on August 15, 1926, and final profession of her vows on December 8, 1930.
Sister Marinus served as a teacher and school librarian at the following schools: St. Raymond Elementary School in East Rockaway, NY; St. Mary Elementary School in Avoca, PA; St. Monica Elementary School in Raleigh, NC; All Saints High School in Masontown, PA; St. Rosalia High School in Pittsburgh, PA; St. Mary of the Mount High School in Pittsburgh, PA; St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, NY; West Central Catholic High School in Kingston, PA; St. Patrick High School in Scranton, PA; Notre Dame High School in East Stroudsburg, PA; and Bishop Guilfoyle High School in Altoona, PA.
From 1975 until the time of her death, Sister Marinus served in prayer ministry at the Marian Convent.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Marywood College, and a Master of Arts degree in English from Duquesne University.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Louise, Margaret DuBreucq, Isabel Topper, Ann Brown and Bertha Ludwig, and four brothers, Louis, William, Marinus and Gerard.
She is survived by a brother, Joseph (Pete) of Carrolltown, PA, and several nieces and nephews.
Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.

Sister M. Marinus Krumenacker of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Wednesday in the Marian Convent.
Born in 1905 (sic) in Nicktown, daughter of the late William and Mary Drumm Krumenacker, she entered the IHM Congregation on Sept. 7, 1924, made her temporary profession of vows on Aug. 15, 1926, and her final profession of vows on Dec. 8, 1930. She served as a teacher and librarian at St. Mary's Elementary School, Avoca; and West Central Catholic High School, as well as schools located in Masontown, Pittsburgh, East Stroudsburg, and Altoona; East Rockaway and Oyster Bay, N.Y.; and Raleigh, N.C. From 1975 until the time of her death, she served in prayer ministry at the Marian Convent.
She received a bachelor of arts degree in English in 1937 from Marywood College and a master of arts degree in English in 1952 from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh.
Surviving are a brother, Joseph "Pete", Carrolltown; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Louise Krumenacker, Margaret DuBrecq, Isabel Topper, Ann Brown and Bertha Ludwig; and four brothers, Louis, William, Marinus and Gerard.
The funeral will be Saturday with Mass at 10 a.m. in the Marian Convent. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
