Sister Marie Eucharia Ward, IHM

Sister Marie Eucharia Ward, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on July 24, 1976 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on July 4, 1885 in New York City, NY; and given the name Mary.  She was the daughter of the late James and Mary Lappin Ward.  She entered the IHM Congregation on March 25, 1928, received the religious habit on August 15, 1928, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1930.

Sister Marie Eucharia served as a teacher in the following schools: St. John in Pittston, from 1930 to 1931; St. Joseph in Danville, from 1931 to 1938; St. Ephrem in Brooklyn, NY, from 1938 to 1953; and St. Agnes in Baltimore, from 1953 to 1974.  

From 1974 until the time of her death, she served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

Interment will follow the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
