Sister M. Rosalie Martin, IHM

Sister M. Rosalie Martin, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, December 24, 2004, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on April 16, 1915 in Danville, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Agnes V. Trainor Martin. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1937, made temporary profession of her vows on May 7, 1940 and final profession of her vows on August 1, 1943.

Sister Rosalie served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Mary Elementary School in Dunmore, PA, from 1967 to 1971; and Nativity of Our Lord Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1972 to 1975; Holy Trinity Elementary School in Poughkeepsie, NY; Most Holy Rosary Elementary School in Syracuse, NY; St. Paul Elementary School in Cranston, RI; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Silver Spring; MD; and at elementary schools located in Manhasset, NY, and Washington, NC.

From 1975 until the time of her death, Sister Rosalie served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Marywood College.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Edward, and three sisters, Sister Josephine Marie Martin, IHM, Margaret Martin and Elizabeth Coleman.

She is survived by two sisters, Agnes Martin and Josephine Martin Brady both of Danville, PA, nieces and nephews. 

The funeral was Tuesday, December 28, at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent followed by interment at St. Catherine Cemetery, Moscow.
