Sister M. Reparata Callan, IHM

Sister M. Reparata Callan, IHM, of the Congregation of Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Sunday, December 31, 1989, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on November 28, 1904 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and given the name Pauline. She was the daughter of the late William A. and Mary Ann Sisk Callan. She entered the IHM Congregation on January 6, 1928, received the religious habit on August 15, 1928, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1930.

As a nurse, Sister Reparata served on the staffs of IHM health care facilities for many years. Her assignments included St. Joseph's Hospital in Carbondale, PA; St. Joseph's Center in Scranton, PA; the Catholic Child Care Center in Hollidaysburg, PA; and the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA, which is a home for retired Sisters.

During several intervals, she taught religion at the following: St. Ann's Catechetical Center in Devon, CT; St. Peter's  Catechetical Center in Wellsboro, PA; St. Ingatius Catechetical Center in Kingston, PA; and Holy Name of Mary Catechetical Center in Montrose, PA.

From 1982 until the time of her death, Sister Reparata served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She is preceded in death by two sisters, Eunette Callan and Sister M. Sarah, IHM, and a brother, Reverend John.

She is survived by two brothers, Rual G. of Sun City, AZ, and Reverend Thomas, T.O.R. of Ehrenfeld, PA. 

The funeral will be on Thursday, January 4 with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in the Marian Convent chapel, with interment to follow at Saint Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Wednesday afternoon or evening.
