Sister M. Dolores Joseph Lally, IHM

Sister M. Dolores Joseph Lally, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, July 3, 1977 at the Mercy Hospital in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on September 27, 1902 in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, and given the name Dolores Agnes.  She was the daughter of the late John J. and Catherine Munley Lally.  She entered the IHM Congregation on March 31, 1927, received the religious habit on August 15, 1929, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1929.

Sister Dolores Joseph was an accomplished musician, and served as a music teacher at the following schools: St. Paul Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Peter of Alcantara Elementary School in Port Washington, NY; St. Patrick Elementary School in White Haven, PA; St. Mary of the Mount Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA; St. Joseph Elementary School in Danville, PA; St. Patrick Elementary School in Oneida, NY; St. Patrick Elementary School in Olyphant, PA; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Pittston, PA; St. Ann Elementary School in Scranton, PA; and St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School in Archbald, PA

From 1971 until the time of her death, Sister Dolores Joseph served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in music, and a Bachelor of Music degree, both from Marywood College.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Bartholomew.

She is survived by a sister, Sister M. Visitation, IHM, and several cousins.

Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
