Sister M. Constantine Proulx, IHM

Sister M. Constantine Proulx, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Monday, August 27, 1984, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an extended illness.

She was born on June 1, 1911 in Providence, Rhode Island, and given the name Delores. She was the daughter of the late Aimable E. and Margaret Selmaine Proulx. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1931, received the religious habit on August 2, 1931, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1933.

Sister Constantine served as a teacher at the following schools: Sacred Heart Elementary School in Jermyn, PA; Cathedral Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. PatrickElementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Rose Elementary School in Carbondale, PA; St. Patrick Elementary School in Oneida, NY; St. Raymond Elementary School in East Rockaway, NY; as well as schools located in Washington, NC; and Brooklyn, NY.

From 1980 until the time of her death, Sister Constantine served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She is survived by six brothers, Irving and Richard of Warwick, RI, Donald of Cranston, RI, Clarence of Coventry, RI, Robert of S. Kingston, RI, and Joseph of Springfield VA, three sisters, Eulalia Doyle of Warwick, RI, Margaret Costigan of Johnston, RI, and Alma Laliberte of Providence, RI, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Thursday, August 30 with Mass of Christian Burial in the Marian Convent Chapel at 10 a.m., with interment to follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Wednesday afternoon or evening.
