Sister Mary Ethelbert Hevern, IHM
Sister Mary Ethelbert Hevern, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, May 13, 1920 at St. John's Convent in Cresson, Pennsylvania.
She was born on May 30, 1896 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and given the name Isabelle. She was the daugther of the late Charles Hevern and Frances Cassidy. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 22, 1914, received the religious habit on August 3, 1914, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1916.
Sister Mary Ethelbert served in child care for resident children in St. John's Home in Cresson.
Interment is at the St. Aloysius Church Cemetery in Cresson, Pennsylvania.

"On May 13, 1920, the Bishop officiated at the funeral of Sister Mary Ethelbert Hevern, a young religious of much promise. She had been early orphaned and was one of the first to be admitted to Saint John's. The good Bishop was overjoyed when she made known to him her desire to become a religious. She was admitted to the novitiate at Mount Saint Mary's and after her profession was sent to Saint John's. In his funeral sermon the Bishop eulogized her pure and innocent life and expressed the hope that many of the girls of Saint Mary's would follow in her footsteps."
