Sister Mary Martin Boland, IHM

Sister Mary Martin Boland, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, April 30, 1897 at Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania.

She was born on April 6, 1868 in Archbald, Pennsylvania, and given the name Margaret (Maggie).  She was the daughter of the late Michael and Sarah White Boland.  She entered the IHM Congregation on March 18, 1892, received the religious habit on November 22, 1892, and made profession of her vows on January 1, 1895.

Sister Mary Martin served as a teacher at St. John School in Pittston, PA, and at Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, PA.

She is survived by four brothers, John of Archbald, PA, James of Archbald, PA, Thomas of Olyphant, PA, and Patrick of Archbald, PA; four sisters, Sarah Ann of Archbald, PA, Mary McCarthy of Simpson, PA, Catherine Walsh of Archbald, PA, and Elizabeth of Archbald, PA; nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at St. John's Church, followed by interment at St. John's Cemetery in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania.
