Sister M. Ernestine Sweeney, IHM

Sister M. Ernestine Sweeney, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on December 4, 1953.

Daughter of the late Francis and Emma Toomey Sweeney, she was born on January 11, 1888 in Scranton, Pennsylvania; and given the name Elizabeth.  She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1914, received the religious habit on July 6, 1915, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1917.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and William; and a sister, Mary E. Walsh.

She is survived by a sister, Alice Emma Walsh of Scranton; nieces and nephews.

Interment will follow the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
