Sister Elizabeth Mary Quinlin, IHM

Sister Elizabeth Mary Quinlin, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, July 13, 2001 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania. 

She was born on March 29, 1911 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and given the name Elizabeth. She was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth McGough Quinlin. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1934, made temporary profession of her vows on August 3, 1936, and final profession of her vows on August 1, 1939.

Sister Elizabeth Mary served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Joseph Elementary School in Williamsport, PA, from 1946 to 1948; Monsignor McHugh Elementary School in Cresco, PA from 1967 to 1969; St. Mary-John School in Cresson, PA; Holy Angels School in Hayes, PA; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary Schoo in Asbury Park, NJ; St. Paul School in Cranston, RI; as well as at schools in Pittsburgh, PA, and Goldsboro, NC.

From 1987 until the time of her death, Sister Elizabeth Mary served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education, and a Master of Science degree in religious studies, both from Marywood College. She also earned a Master of Science degree in education from Duquesne University.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alma, and two brothers, John J. and Joseph F.

She is survived by two brothers, Francis X. of Pittsburgh, PA, and Hugh P. of Castle Shannon, PA, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday, July 17 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Monday between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
